Christmas Baking 2012
Christmas Baking 2012
I had to scratch an itch and do some Christmas baking. The local newspaper, the Minneapolis Star Tribune, has published an e-book, "The Cookie Book, Ten Years of Winning Recipes from Our Holiday Baking Contest." It was authored up by Lee Dean and Rick Nelson, editor and writer for the Strib's Taste section. It is an ebook available in a couple different formats; I bought mine at Apple’s App Store.
I’m not expecting that all of my holiday baking will be from this book, but I have made three recipes from it so far, Double-Chocolate Cherry Espresso Drops, Cranberry Pecan Swirls, and Snowball Clippers. I’ve also done Spritz, Melting Moments, Peanut Blossoms, and Molasses Sugar Cookies (Gingersnaps).
As I was updating this, I ran across some other treats for Christmas, too. I did not make them this year, but they are worth considering if you’re looking for more cookies. The Chocolate Caramel Delights are delights, the Turtle Bites are easy-peasy, the Oreo Bon-bons are sweet, and the Apricot Snowballs are one of my forever favorites — I love the dried fruits in them.
